Donald J. Jirovec D.D.S. is a Kansas City Dental Implant Dentist.
A dental implant is essentially an artificial tooth root that anchors a custom-made replacement tooth. Usually made of titanium, dental implants are incredibly durable and nearly impossible to differentiate from natural teeth. While Dentures remain a valid option for some patients, they can cause irritation and frustration for others when they do not fit properly. Implant dentistry solves this problem by giving patients a long-lasting alternative that won’t get in the way of eating, laughing, or speaking naturally.
There are several different types of dental implants available to our patients. At Donald J. Jirovec's Emergency Tooth Pain Center in Kansas City, Prairie Village location we determine which type of implant to use based on the condition of the jawbone, gum tissue, and the specific health needs of the patient. Root-form implants are the most common type of implant, and are best for patients with a sound, healthy jawbone. If a patient’s jaw is deteriorating or is especially thin, a subperiosteal implant, blade implant, or cylinder implant might be used instead. These implants are designed to reinforce the jaw and provide additional support for replacement teeth. We coordinate your care with the expertise of a board certified oral surgeon specialist.
